This guide covers professional installation of LED wall pack fixtures for licensed electricians and qualified maintenance personnel.

Pre-Installation Checklist

  • [ ] Verify power is OFF at the breaker
  • [ ] Check that existing junction box is rated for fixture weight
  • [ ] Confirm voltage matches fixture input range (120-277V)
  • [ ] Gather mounting hardware (included with Auvolar wall packs)
  • [ ] Have wire nuts, electrical tape, and silicone sealant ready
  • [ ] Check that mounting surface can support fixture weight (5-15 lbs)

Junction Box Requirements

Auvolar wall packs fit standard 4" round or octagonal junction boxes. The universal mounting plate covers boxes from 3.5" to 4.5".

Important: The junction box must be recessed flush with or slightly behind the wall surface. Protruding boxes will prevent proper mounting plate seating.

White (neutral)→ White (fixture)
Green/bare (ground)→ Green (fixture)

Wiring: 277V Circuit

Brown or orange (hot)→ Black (fixture)
Gray or blue (neutral)→ White (fixture)

The Auvolar wall pack driver auto-detects 120V or 277V — no switch or setting needed.

Adding a Photocell

Auvolar wall packs feature a twist-lock photocell receptacle on top.

With photocell ($15, SKU: SENS-WP-PC):
  • Remove the shorting cap from the twist-lock receptacle
  • Align photocell pins with receptacle slots
  • Insert and twist clockwise to lock
  • Photocell automatically turns light ON at dusk, OFF at dawn
  • Without photocell:
    • Leave the factory-installed shorting cap in place
    • Light operates continuously when powered

    Mounting Steps

  • Attach mounting plate to junction box using provided screws
  • Pull wires through the large center opening of the mounting plate
  • Make connections using wire nuts (included). Tug-test each connection
  • Tuck wires neatly into junction box cavity
  • Align fixture mounting holes with plate
  • Secure fixture with provided mounting screws (typically 2-4 screws)
  • Apply silicone around the top and sides of the fixture-to-wall junction for weather sealing (optional but recommended)
  • Install photocell if using (twist-lock on top)
  • Restore power and test
  • Common Wiring Issues

    Fixture doesn't light up:
  • Check breaker is ON
  • Verify wiring connections with voltage tester
  • Confirm photocell shorting cap is installed (if no photocell)
  • Check that photocell isn't covered/blocked (if installed)
  • Fixture flickers:
    • Usually a loose wire connection — retighten wire nuts
    • Can also indicate voltage issue — verify with multimeter
    Photocell stays on during daytime:
    • Photocell may be facing a shaded direction
    • Rotate fixture so photocell eye faces open sky
    • Some photocells need 24 hours to calibrate
