LED wall packs are the workhorses of commercial exterior lighting. They mount directly to building walls and provide security, safety, and wayfinding illumination for parking areas, loading docks, building perimeters, and walkways.

Types of Wall Pack Lights

Full Cutoff Wall Packs direct all light downward with zero uplight. Required for:
  • Dark Sky compliant areas
  • Properties near residential zones
  • New construction meeting IES/IESNA standards
  • Areas with strict light pollution ordinances
Semi-Cutoff Wall Packs allow some uplight for aesthetic wall washing. Used for:
  • Building facades where architectural accent lighting is desired
  • Signage illumination
  • Areas without strict light pollution requirements
Adjustable/Rotatable Wall Packs offer flexible beam angles. Ideal for:
  • Multi-purpose areas requiring direction changes
  • Retrofit situations where mounting position is fixed

Auvolar wall packs range from 30W ($45) to 120W ($99), covering all commercial applications.

Photocell & Motion Sensor Options

Photocells (dusk-to-dawn sensors) are essential for wall packs:
  • Automatically turn lights on at dusk, off at dawn
  • No timer programming needed
  • Auvolar offers twist-lock photocells ($15) compatible with all our wall packs
Motion sensors add 30-50% additional energy savings:
  • Dim to 10-20% when no motion detected
  • Full brightness on motion detection
  • Ideal for low-traffic areas like side walls and back alleys

Installation Tips

  • Height: Mount at 12-20ft for optimal coverage. Too low creates glare; too high reduces ground-level illumination
  • Spacing: Place wall packs 20-30ft apart for continuous perimeter coverage
  • Junction box: Use a standard 4" round or octagonal J-box. Most Auvolar wall packs include a universal mounting plate
  • Wiring: 120-277V universal voltage standard — no transformer needed
  • IP65 minimum: All outdoor wall packs should be IP65+ rated for rain and dust
  • DLC Rebates for Wall Packs

Wall packs are among the highest-rebated fixture types:

    • California (SCE, PG&E): $25-$75 per fixture
    • New York (Con Edison): $30-$60 per fixture
    • Texas (Oncor): $20-$50 per fixture

Auvolar wall packs are DLC Premium listed, maximizing your rebate eligibility.

    Replacing HPS/Metal Halide Wall Packs

    Common retrofit equivalents:

    • 70W HPS → 20-30W LED wall pack
    • 100W MH → 30-40W LED wall pack
    • 150W HPS → 40-60W LED wall pack
    • 250W MH → 60-80W LED wall pack
    • 400W MH → 80-120W LED wall pack

LED wall packs deliver 50-70% energy savings over HID equivalents while providing better color rendering (CRI >70 vs CRI 25 for HPS).
